The instructor scheduled for the educational program is Douglas Fish. Mr. Fish is the Executive Director of the Building Codes Assistance Project based in Washington D.C. PACO IS UP AND RUNNING…..
ON THE WEB !!!

That's right, PACO now has a web site. After months of discussion, research and planning by the PACO Officers and Board of Directors, a motion was approved at the March annual meeting to contract with a web master to develop a web page and enter into a contract for the quarterly updates, at a cost not to exceed $2,000.00. Since the beginning of January the Executive Committee received quotes from various companies to develop a website for the organization. At the May 5, 2000 Executive Meeting the Officers and Board of Directors narrowed the choices down to two quotes, which were both attractive and comparable offers. It was voted to enter into a contract with Kevin Richart, and the Executive Committee will work with the Kevin as to what information will be on our web site. The site will include a calendar for upcoming events and meetings, training schedule, membership list, membership application, officers list and other links. So check it out at

SEE YOU ON THE WEB!

Now that Governor Ridge signed into law the Uniform Construction Code (UCC Act 45) there will be a requirement to obtain certification and continuing education in this profession we call building code enforcement. When Pennsylvania Labor and Industry is finished promulgating the rules and regulations of Act 45, PACO will closely focus on those requirements. The PACO Education Committee will continue to meet all standards required in order to provide quality seminars with continuing education credits. By being a PACO member, you can attend accredited seminars at membership prices, and you have the ability to network and interact with other professionals in your field that may have the same interest or concerns as you do. PACO TO SPONSOR SEMINAR
TITLED "INTERNATIONAL
RESIDENTIAL PLAN REVIEW
2000"

The IRC will be an option for residential construction under the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania's new act 45, titled the Uniform Construction Code (UCC). With this in mind, the Education Committee reported that a two-day seminar is scheduled for October 2000. This seminar is based on the International Residential Code/2000. The goal of this seminar is to enable participants to perform a preliminary residential plan review consistent with minimum requirements and to apply the IRC to the plan review procedure. A definite date and location has not been selected as of this publication. Please contact Bob Dunca at 610-645-6162.
