ICC Conference
ICC Conference was held in Baltimore MD. The conference was poorly attended in general, however a few of our members were present for the Business Meeting where the By-Laws were changed and voted on.
The next ICC Conference will be Dallas TX and Charlotte NC.
PABCO
At the end of the Legislative Session, the State passed the adoption of the 2009 Codes to go into effect as of the New Year.
It is possible at the beginning of the Spring Session, an attempt to suspend or overturn the adoption of the 09 codes specifically relating to the residential sprinkler and energy codes. PABCO is prepare to make concessions in order to keep the 09 codes moving forward and possibly revising some specific provisions.
PABCO would like everyone to contact the Representative in the area where you VOTE, not work, to voice opposition to House Bill 1196.
House Bill 1077 to be presented concerns log homes and specific technical changes to the code since log homes can not be built to code. PABCO will probably support this Bill
PABCO is formulating language for the requirement of CO2 detectors in existing homes.
PCCA located in Enola (Harrisburg) now has a training facility for the classes it holds. The components of the training are 3 to 5 days per code component. These classes are mainly geared toward entry level trainees. PCCA is also devising training through PSATS for continuing education for certified officials.
PHRC Annual Housing Conference is February of 2010 in Cranberry PA (outside of Pittsburgh) you can register on line if you plan on attending. They have also decided to hold a Mini conference in the Eastern part of the state (possibly Bucks County) specifically for training in residential sprinklers. Dates & location to be announced.
PHRC Webinars are extremely popular and educational for CEU's. PACO can look into showing these webinars during our educational sessions for CEU credit.
